I went to my only class Fundamental of Circuits I this afternoon, had 3 hours of lecture there; it is awfully long hours for three times a week from next week on. Yep, we left early as a special "gift" from the Prof. who wanted his students to get used to the class, and like to be in his class as recorded by himself. Anyway, this class can be quite fast-paced and challenging, we will be compressing a 3 or 4-month classes into a little over 40 days in summer, so I have to be both physically and mentally prepared, otherwise I will fail myself which is something that sucks. Okay, having said that I need to study new materials in EE book now, and I sincerely wish you all a great summer either in summer sessions or in vacations.

Why not have more dollar pizza stores around?

Today, I was at work then around 2:30 in the afternoon headed downstairs with Suzhen to a newly "discovered" decent dollar pizza shop in the nearby block. It was my second visit there in continuation of yesterday's, well yeah I love their pizzas! They're so damn good at a price of 99 cents, would you resist a good slice? The slice, unlike the usual fatty ones sold elsewhere in the city; it was thin with light cheese on top of crispy crust. Delicious stuff don't mind me to mention it one more time.
By "fortune", I saw the cook in the open-kitchen-he looked Chinese-like, my colleague suggested he might be the owner. Whatever he was, I want to thank him for running a shop like that. Don't laugh at me. Food business at universities is one of the most profitable industries, they are ripping us off like a wild bull off control; while students are panicking over the highly-over-priced lunches averaging at $6 or 7 or more, business owners are laughing like devil behind the stage, squeezing out every little penny out of our pockets. Recently, I ran to Columbia University for an errand; I found the food there were cheaper than at my school. The result was - I was shocked.
In downtown Metro Tech area, business firms are all over the place. The white-collared ones may or may not mind the prices, this is probably one of the motives and semi-reasonable excuses for businesses to raise the sky-rocking prices.
Now, look at the dollar pizza shop. Owners of such kind are not benefiting much from its prices but indeed they attract more traffic than anywhere else, I mean people are cheap (in front of good food) in certain circumstances even if they were making a lot of money everyday. We should enforce the idea of dollar pizza shop and make food resources more acceptable to students, and to public. People are of course too greedy to stop making money from day to day, I understand it is not their fault because someday we might as well join them. Anyways, the sense of feeling deprived at school made me write this whole thing. But do keep this in your mind.

Tips to Survive at College

No matter which college you will be attending, let it be CUNY, SUNY, or Private schools. (if I am entrusted by you guys)^^

General scholarship essays want:
1. Little bit about your background, usually include a little bit information of financial disadvantage occurance in you, if you were rich you wouldn't apply, right? Don't overdo in this section as it may appears irritating to scholarship committees.

2. (Most important part)What inspired you? Who inspired you the most? What kind of characteristic does that particular person have that fascinated you? Why were your inspired by that person?
Remember, this part of your essay you MUST state the motivation behind your hardwork (I assume you all do have such motivation), examples are your parents, friends and etc. Or better to say solve a society issue. The purpose in here is not to force you to talk about a special person, but you need to be able to communicate with committees about your inspiration to achieve.
Q: What if I really want to earn a better life for my family and nothing else to say? Is there any way that I can focus on both self-interest and public interest, and not to be looked as self-fish?
A: Smart question, the answer is yes. Recommendation is to merely state self-interest say you want to earn a better life, then tend to focus more for the society say you see the same problem apply to the society and you want to help out. The reason why this balance is important is because in reality, those committes want to see you as a social hero not as a self-fish.

3. Now, if your essay was able to seize committees' eyes to keep on reading; that is your Part 2 above was well described and caught their eyes on your paper. You now need to tell something about your college goal, what will you do in college that will eventually lead you to make a contribution to the society?

4. At the end, there are millions of students apply for a popular scholarship. How will you be able to stand out from the rest? Trick here is not to boast around, but confidently tell committees that you believe you will succeed with the help of scholarship to overcome financial problem!

P.S.--I hope this guideline helps you guys to apply for scholarship and hopefully every one of you will win some decent scholarships, and don't forget to save me some money if you do! For I not post any charge on you! ^^ j/k This guideline applys to I would say 40% - 50% of scholarships around except for those technical ones that require you to do research and stuff like that really hard to win. This is also the guideline I followed before.

Journey Of College Life

I am overwhelm when I step to college
I am lost in a world of no direction
Until someday I realize that
Life isn't always prepared with straight path
But rather with thorny obstacles lay ahead of me
For I must master over them or be mastered
I choose to master
Simply because I think
Obstacles are illusions
That are only scary to me
Before I know them well.

Jimmy Li

Camp Mason 2006

The 3 days and 2 nights camp has proven to be a great intergration of fun and learning in its meaningful activities we were involved . It was a camp filled with tons of fun though it was the first time in my life to go on one, but more importantly I've learned the importance of teamwork involvement in some of those exciting classes during the camp such as "Firecracker", "Vertical Playpen", "Black Bear". To me, it was more than a camp in the woods. Because of this special camp, our relationships with known or unknown schoolmates have improved undergo a process of living together in cabins and collobrating with each other to overcome barriers in adventurous activities.

P.S.--I thank LESP for providing this valuable outdoor living experience.

Snow&Winter

Snow flakes sparkle in the sky
Spin, twist, rotate in the air
Slowly float and fall…….
Float like a feather; fall as a star
Finally, embrace and kiss the ground with coolness.
Kids thrill on its joy of sheer purity
People admire its beauty of mystery
Behind all
It’s their mom— Winter
Who gives them the chance to shine……..
